Introduction
In this session we will discuss about IR(infrared) controlled fan speed controller, in this circuit it consists of 74HC164 shift register IC and relay with some non-polar capacitor.
Components Used
1)74HC164 IC
2)PC817 optocoupler
3)5v four-relay
4)Non-polar Capacitor 3.3uF, 2.2uF, 1.5uF, 100nF
5)VS1838 IR receiver
6)2.2uF electrolytic capacitor
7)Leds
8)100E, 1K, 10K, 1M, 2.2E(1W)
9)5v DC
74HC164
In this IC there is 8-output of which we use only 4 to controller 4-relays

IR Receiver Circuit -
In this circuit it uses IR receiver VS1838 to sense ir signals and 74HC164 IC used to get serial output
from Q0 to Q3.

Regulator -
In the regulator portion I used capacitor based regulator its main advantage is it does not makes any hum-sound or any distortive noise along triac based ac regulators. For better accuracy it uses 3 capacitors of 3.3uF, 2.2uF, and 1.5uF capacitors.
Here the basic circuit of Capacitor based regulator -

Circuit -
In board PC817 optocoupler is used to protect from any high voltage spikes, in my case it is made on zero pcb.
